Eagle Eye Mining Builds Research Directorate For TTU

Eagle Eye Mining company has inaugurated a newly furnished Directorate of Research, Innovation and Development it built for the Takoradi Technical University (TTU)

The mining company has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the university to help promote healthy environment when it comes to mining.

The signatories included the Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University, Prof. Frank John Eshun, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eagle Eye Mining, Mr Godwin Kwame Avadu Donkor.

It was witnessed by the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko- Mensah and the Director of Research, Innovation and Development at TTU, Prof. Afua Nkrumah among other dignitaries.

Mr Godwin Kwame Avadu Donkor explained the motive behind the initiative and said it is to research into measures that will guide the operations of the mining company in a way that that will prioritize the long-term sustainability of the environment, as well as the well-being of the community the company serves.

He added that the company is very proud to collaborate with the Research Directorate of the university.

This, he said, will ensure that their mining operations are not only efficient but are also conducted in a manner that minimizes adverse impact on the environment and support the sustainable development goal of the region.

Maame Afua Nkrumah mentioned some of the benefits Eagle Eye stands to gain from this partnership as the adaptation of a sustainable mining practices, research and development support, reliable data analytics and monitoring tools.

” TTU will also gain research opportunities, enhanced learning experiences, revamping the school laboratories with advanced equipment and instruments.

“The MoU will also ensure improvement in extraction techniques, optimise resource recovery and development of sustainable practices in the small-scale mining operations”.

She called on stakeholders and industry practitioners and faculty to seize the opportunity to work,to create a paradigm where education and industry join forces for sustainable solutions.

The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah thanked the two parties for the partnership and was hopeful that there will be more of such collaboration for their mutual benefits.
